but listen for yourself! Treat it as a single, one hour song.Lady Gaga performing during The Chromatica Ball tour (2022), in support of her sixth studio album, ChromaticaĪmerican singer Lady Gaga has released five solo studio albums, two collaborative studio albums, two film soundtracks, three remix albums, two compilation albums, four EPs, two live albums, 39 singles (including three as a featured artist), and 14 promotional singles. There's a stack of lyrical and melodic through lines in the album. Josh picked out and emphasised sounds and feelings we had forgotten were there, and made the album what it was always going to be. With the expert ear of Josh Ingledew, they were brought together with a coherence we could only have dreamed of. The immediacy and sincerity of singing felt genuine in the moment of recording. A favourite moment was writing the second verse to Octavia as Sam set up the mic to record the vocals. Many of the parts recorded first time, improvised in the moment, listening to the reverberations. There's an experimental feel to the whole. Tender and raucous, electronic and acoustic, eclectic but coherent. The result was a fluid and fluent album that surprised us in how beautifully it came together. The intent was to try and make sound together again. Recorded in the brief lockdown respite of summer 2020 by our very own Sam Covill, we began recording with only a handful of ideas, fragments of songs, ideas to try, a few words, some half thought 'what ifs'. Though not really a concept album in the same way as its predecessor, EBaT has rivers of ideas running right the way through it, connecting the 10 tracks together as a whole.
